Leeds United: Whites kick off new campaign with QPR trip - live on Sky

Leeds United will begin the new Championship season with an away game against Queens Park Rangers - live on Sky.

The Elland Road club have been handed a meeting with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s side at Loftus Road on Sunday, August 7.

The match, which will kick off at noon, has been moved from August 6 to allow Sky Sports to broadcast it on the opening weekend of the 2016-17 campaign.

United’s first home fixture will take place the following Saturday against Birmingham City on August 13.

Garry Monk’s side will round off the opening month of the season with a home clash with Fulham on August 16 and trips to Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest on August 20 and August 27 respectively.

Leeds’ festive schedule will see them play Preston North End at Deepdale on Boxing Day before a high-profile visit to newly-relegated Aston Villa on December 31. The club meet Rotherham United in a Yorkshire derby at Elland Road on January 2.

Title favourites Newcastle are due to visit Elland Road on November 19 while Leeds will go to St James’ Park on April 15.

Leeds’ home clash with Villa is scheduled for Saturday, December 3.

United are due to finish their campaign away at Wigan Athletic on Sunday, May 7.
