Leeds United v Millwall: Christiansen backs Whites to fire in goals '˜week by week'

HEAD coach Thomas Christiansen has declared his confidence in Leeds United's finishing, insisting the club's next strike will lead to goals 'week by week.'

Christiansen’s side have failed to score in their last three league games which have yielded just one point as a result.

But United’s head coach says he has been heartened by the number of chances that his men have created, particularly in the recent games at home to Nottingham Forest and at Ipswich Town.

Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga both squandered particularly good chances in the goalless draw against Forest at Elland Road on New Year’s Day while Roofe, Pawel Cibicki and captain Liam Cooper then failed to find the net when well positioned in last weekend’s 1-0 loss at Ipswich Town.

Ahead of Saturday afternoon’s clash with Millwall at Elland Road, United’s recent misses in front of goal have further raised calls for the club to sign another striker before the transfer window closes on January 31.

“We have created enough opportunities to score the goals,” said Christiansen, whose side sit seventh and outside of the play-offs on goal difference.

“Against Nottingham we could have scored three or four of them and against Ipswich we had three really very good opportunities to score.

“But, again, it’s about confidence.

“Once the ball goes in then it will go in week by week.”
