Bristol City club captain and central defender Bailey Wright looks set to return to competitive action for the first time since April following a thigh injury which required an operation and has kept him sidelined for nearly 7 months.

City assistant boss Jamie McAllister said of his impending return: "It's a massive positive for us. He's the club captain and a big character. He's one of our leaders and it's great to have him back on the training pitch.

"He's had a tough six or seven months but it shows what sort of captain he is when every day he will come into smiling, upbeat and ready to go.

"It's great to have him back on the grass so a big plus."

Any other injuries?

Lee Johnson's squad has been hit by a number of injuries in recent months but following the international break looks set to welcome a number of those sidelined back into the fold for his sides trip to Elland Road.

The big potential returnees are Frank Fielding (goalkeeper) and Bailey Wright (defender) along with a number of other first team players.

Assistant manager Jamie McAllister said ahead of the Whites fixture: "A lot of boys are coming back from injuries. Bailey Wright played 60 minutes against Colchester on Monday which is a big plus. Eros Pisano played last week with the U23s.

"Frankie Fielding is back in training. Hakeeb Adelakun and Mo Eisa have had another week's training under their belt. Marley Watkins is back running.

"Obviously, the international boys went away and played games. Callum, Lloyd, Jay, and Tomas [Kalas] all played minutes which is good and they are coming back injury free.

What is Bristol City's current form?

Current form: WWLLL

Bristol City have lost their last three Championship fixtures which has seen pressure mount on head coach Lee Johnson. A 1-0 home defeat to Preston North End last time out was preceded by losses to Reading and Stoke City.

Victories over Hull City and Brentford before that leave the Robins in the comfort of Championship mid-table as they sit 13th before Saturday afternoon's round of fixtures.

Johnson's men sit six points off both the play-off and relegation places in a tight league table.

What formation do Bristol City play?

Bristol City's preferred formation: 4-4-2

Out of 17 Championship fixtures this season Lee Johnson has opted to play a traditional 4-4-2 formation having won 5, drawn 5 and lost 4. On three occasions, including last time out against Preston, City have deployed a 5-3-2 formation and on one occasion they have opted for a 4-3-1-2.

With the returning injuries Johnson is expected to play his preferred 4-4-2, which could see Marcelo Bielsa match up the Robins two strikers with a 3-3-1-3 formation which the Argentine has put into action whenever any opposition play two up front.
