SKIPPER Liam Bridcutt insists an 11-point gap to second-placed Brighton is not insurmountable ahead of tomorrow's showdown at Elland Road.

Leeds are now as big as 66-1 to finish in the Championship’s top two after collecting two points from their last two games – a 1-1 draw at Fulham and a 0-0 stalemate at home to Queens Park Rangers.

But defensive midfielder Bridcutt believes there is still time for the Magpies and Seagulls to be caught by Leeds who could immediately slash the gap to second to eight points with victory at Elland Road tomorrow.

Asked if he thought Leeds could still overhaul Brighton, Bridcutt insisted: “Yes. Anything can happen in the Championship.

“It’s just one of those things and as long as we keep putting points on the table then I don’t see why not.

“I have seen quite a bit of Brighton over this season. They are very quick on the counter attack and they look to break quick and obviously with their front three at times, they have got a lot of threat. But we have come up against better sides and come off with some good results. It’s going to be a good game and a difficult test for us but if we want to be in the top half of the table or if we want to get promotion then these are the games you have got to stand up and be counted in.”
