Leeds United under-23's: Machuca lifts 10-man Leeds to R's victory

Two second half goals from Alex Machuca were enough to give Leeds United a 2-1 victory over QPR at Elland Road on Friday night.

The opening half was a tale of two goalkeepers as first QPR's Marcin Brzozowski was forced into action before Kamil Miazek pulled off a trio of good saves.

It was the hosts though who opened the scoring in the tight affair as Chay Tilt whipped in a ball from the right that caused havoc across the Whites defence.

Miazek came to collect but clattered into captain Oriol Rey and with neither able to clear their lines the ball fell to Aramide Otem who smashed home into the empty net seven minutes before the break.

The visitors remained much the better side following the interval but it was Leeds who levelled with 15 minutes to go.

Alex Machuca followed in a Jordan Stevens effort and after Brzozowski fumbled for the visitors the Spaniard shifted the ball out of his feet nicely to find the bottom corner and level proceedings.

Just moments after the goal disaster struck for Carlos Corberan's men as Romario Vieira was given his marching orders for a second yellow.

It was United though who took the lead as substitute Clarke Oduor found goalscorer Machuca on the edge of the area who brought the ball down and fired a brilliantly curled effort home to stun the visitors.

It was enough to give Leeds all three points in what can only be described as a smash and grab under the Friday night lights.
