Left back Taylor injured his Achilles in the second half of the Championship clash at home to Brentford on December 17 and has subsequently been unavailable for United's next 13 games.

The defender finally returned to training at Thorp Arch this week, impressing head coach Garry Monk with his fitness, but the 23-year-old will still play no part against the Owls this weekend with the game coming "too soon" for a return.

Monk revealed: "Lewie Coyle just caught an injury on his foot at the start of the week so he will be out for this game.

"Charlie is back in training, he has been training all of this week and everyone else is fully fit.

"I knew Charlie would come back in in great condition, like we have talked about before with Charlie.

"But I think this game is too soon for him to be involved.

"He will have a bit more of a period to prepare himself and get himself ready but very, very soon I am sure he will be available for selection and be able to come into the squad."
