Jansson, 25, joined the Whites on a season-long loan from Italian Serie A side Torino on August 18 and made his sole Whites start so far in the 1-0 second round EFL Cup win at Luton Town.

But the six-foot-five Swede could make his Whites league debut this weekend when Leeds return to Championship action on Saturday against leaders Huddersfield Town at Elland Road. Liam Cooper and Kyle Bartley started at centre-back for United’s final game before the international break at Nottingham Forest which resulted in a 3-1 defeat.

Leeds approach the Huddersfield game sitting fourth-bottom and with only four points from their first five games.

Internationally, United’s new midfield recruit Eunan O’Kane was not involved for the Republic Of Ireland last night in their Group D clash in Serbia. O’Kane joined from Bournemouth on transfer deadline day. Whites winger Stuart Dallas played the full 90 minutes for Northern Ireland in Sunday’s goalless draw with Group C hosts Czech Republic.
