Whites defender Jansson saw off competition from five other finalists for the award in the shape of Derby County defender Curtis Davies, Bolton Wanderers striker Gary Madine, Bristol City forward Jamie Patterson, Brentford striker Lasse Vibe and Preston North End goalkeeper Chris Maxwell.

Jansson, though, received the most votes following a month in which the Swede scored twice whilst also helping helped United keep two clean sheets.

Jansson scored during the 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa on December 1 and the 26-year-old also bagged the only goal of the game in the 1-0 success at home to Norwich City on December 16.
