United unveiled Grimes this morning, just hours after confirming the arrival of goalkeeper Rob Green on a 12-month deal.

Grimes, 20, is an England Under-21 international and another player who worked under Leeds head coach Garry Monk while Monk was manager of Swansea.

He has made only a handful of appearances for the Welsh club following a £1.75m move from Exeter City in 2015 but he finished last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, playing 13 times and featuring in Leeds’ 2-1 win at Ewood Park in March.

Grimes told www.leedsunited.com: “This was a no-brainer for me. It’s such a big club and we’re looking to have a really strong season.

“I’m really excited to come here and play football. That’s the aim for me this season. Coming here gives me a really good chance to do that at a high level.

“Garry Monk and (assistant) Pep Clotet were really good to me when I was at Swansea. They helped me a lot and nurtured me when I was a young player coming through so it’ll be great to work with them again.”

United’s summer business is well advanced following yesterday’s deal for Green who came to Elland Road after his release by Queens Park Rangers in May.

Leeds had previously finalised the signings of striker Marcus Antonsson, defender Kyle Bartley - also on a season-long loan from Swansea - and winger Hadi Sacko.
