Leeds United: Next month's clash with Boro threatened with rearrangement

Sky are pressing the Football League and West Yorkshire Police to move the Championship match from Saturday, February 13 to Monday, February 15 - less than four weeks before the game is due to take place.

Leeds believed they had avoided that re-arrangement after Sky chose their forthcoming trip to Brighton for a Monday-night broadcast on February 29.

Boro’s trip to Elland Road was not among the recent live games announced by the Football League but West Yorkshire Police are believed to be considering a request to accommodate it on February 15.

The long-running dispute between Cellino and the Football League over fixture disruption boiled over around Christmas as United’s owner threatened to shut Sky out of Leeds’ 2-2 draw with Derby County on December 27.

Cellino, who was abroad in Miami, relented at the last minute and allowed the broadcast to go ahead following warning from the Football League that Leeds would face a charge of misconduct if Sky were not granted access to Elland Road.

Cellino, however, said that it was “the last time” he would tolerate a rearrangement. United have faced constant disruption this season and have already been broadcast live 11 times. Cellino claims Leeds suffer a financial loss from televised matches at Elland Road due to falls in commercial income.

Leeds and the Football League have been asked to comment.
