It was a bit more positive going forward, we definitely had more shots on goal and, as we could see, it wasn’t just from inside the box. We were trying to test from outside of the box as well, which we have not done in many games. We can’t always score the perfect goal, although we did that night!

But we’ve got to start playing that way and being a little bit more positive in the final third.

Overall, I don’t really think there’s anything else we can do up front other than wait for Chris Wood to come back. Like Steve Evans has said, he’s not got the strikers he wants.

Steve is dealing with what he’s got at the moment and it’s a very difficult one. I’m sure he would love to bring in more frontmen but as yet he’s not been given that opportunity.

The last window was not the right one for him to get someone in.

I’m sure he will be working now towards getting somebody who is going to be the difference for the start of next season.

Lewis Cook’s goal was just a special strike from a special player.

He’s capable of doing that. And when I say people were trying shots from outside of the area and trying to shoot on sight, that’s exactly what he did.

You’ve got to be brave with these attempts. Nine times out of 10 they will fly to the back of the stands, they could get blocked, it could be an awful attempt.

Cook was very, very brave because he was at least 40 yards out. What a sweet strike. You’ll only probably score one of those in your whole career.

But I do think there’s more goals in Lewis.

His overall game is still getting better and we’ve got to understand that – he is still learning the game and what he brings to the team is pretty special at that age.

We’ve got to realise that he is not always going to be consistent at that age. He’s going to have weeks where is outstanding and other weeks he may not be.

That’s just part of his progression as a professional football player. But we all know the talent that boy has got – he’s got it in abundance.

What has been lacking and what I think there’s more in there of him is goals and I’m not saying it’s always going to be 40-yarders.

I think he is capable of getting goals inside the box and timing his runs and finishing more. If he adds that to his game as well then, wow, we have got the complete midfield player haven’t we?

I think it’s now really important that we get Cook and Charlie Taylor to sign long-term deals.

We don’t need to sell either of them and what we need to do is get their contracts sorted now, before the summer time and I believe the club are talking to Lewis and Charlie.

We haven’t brought anybody in during the window, so it’s important that we sort out their contracts then.

That is a sign of intention for next season, by keeping these two on longer deals and making them happy so that they go for their summer break and they know they have got an extension on their contracts.

We then know that we have got these two players for next season and beyond.

They have been two of the most consistent players, bar probably Gaetano Berardi and I think Liam Cooper who has done very well this season as well.

When you look at our players, there’s only probably four that have been consistent throughout the season though I thought Lewie Coyle’s performance the other night was fantastic. Even with Berardi coming back, I think he has done enough to keep his place against Brighton.

It’s going to be a really difficult game going to Brighton on their patch.

They are a team that are doing very, well and who are looking for promotion.

They have definitely got the quality to be right up there and the table doesn’t lie. But it’s all about Leeds and how they go about their jobs because we know that on their day they can beat any team.

We have been to Derby and done that so we know they are capable of doing it but we can’t be having two or three players having average games.

Everyone has got to be at it.
