Leeds United loanee Coyle setting the example at Fleetwood

Leeds United loanee Lewie Coyle has been hailed as a fine example for others by Fleetwood Town manager John Sheridan.

The 22-year-old has spent the season out on loan with the Cod Army and has impressed at right-back in the 46 appearances he has made for the club in all competitions.

Coyle has been nominated for both Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards and boss Sheridan has been delighted with what he has seen from the defender believing that some of his players can learn from him.

“I tell you who I use as a good example: Coyley, how he trains, how he plays. He is only on loan but some of the players can learn off him," Sheridan told Fleetwood Today.

“To give himself the best chance, he does not half train well and he does not half play well. He is not the best player in the world, not the best right-back, but he does not half give himself the best chance just because of the way he goes about things.

“A lot of players can learn off that and I told them. They can’t come in and think it is a nice sunny day and we are just having a five-a-side. Everything Lewie does he wants to do properly. He wants quality all the time."

Coyle himself says he has already felt the full benefits of spending a campaign out on loan believing that he is ready to return to Elland Road and fight for a place in the starting XI.

“This year was always about coming out, playing games, gaining valuable experience and having that platform to kick on,” Coyle told the Blackpool Gazette.

“I want to go back to Leeds in the summer, have a successful pre-season and try and cement a first team spot in the Leeds United team. I’ve learned a hell of a lot, both physically and mentally, about myself and football in general."
