The 19-year-old and reigning Football League player-of-the-year has signed a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Cook had interest from the club in last year’s January transfer window but has now joined the Cherries on a four-year deal after passing a medical.

The 19-year-old won the Football League Young Player of the Year last season during another impressive campaign at Elland Road by the youngster.

He made 85 appearances for the Whites in his first two seasons as a professional after breaking into the first team in the opening game of the 2014-2015 season against Millwall.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake said: “We’re pleased to be bringing one of the country’s brightest prospects to the club.

“Lewis has impressed since earning his spot in the Leeds United first team and we feel that he can continue his rapid progress under the tutelage of Eddie (Howe) and Jason (Tindall).

“He’s represented England at youth level and won plenty of individual awards last season, we’re excited to see him flourish further at Vitality Stadium over the next four years.”

Cook was part of the England team that won the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in 2014, starting three of the five matches for the Three Lions including the semi-final and final of the competition. He has also represented the national side from Under-16 to Under-19 level.

He becomes the club’s third signing of the season behind Emerson Hyndman and Lys Mousset, while the south coast club have also had a bid £15 million accepted by Liverpool for winger Jordan Ibe.
