United avoided the Premier League’s leading sides in today’s draw but will face top-flight opponents for the first time in this season’s competition after being handed a trip to Vicarage Road.

Leeds reached round five with a 2-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers yesterday – a match attended by an away crowd of over 6,600 – and they will travel to Watford on the weekend of February 20.

The club’s Championship clash with Birmingham City, scheduled for the same date, will now be rearranged.

Evans said: “We’re the only lower placed team away from home, we’ve not landed any of the big names and we’re not at Elland Road so those are the downsides.

“But on the upside it’s a game we can win.

“We’ll take thousands upon thousands of supporters with us and we’ll turn it into a proper cup tie. We have to turn it into a cup tie.

“I’ve got a lot of admiration for Watford and what they did in the Championship last season and if we play them at their game, we’ll get beaten.”

Watford, who are 10th in the Premier League table, came through round four of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest yesterday.

Evans said he planned to travel to watch them during their game at home to Chelsea on Wednesday night.

Leeds are bidding to reach the last eight of the FA Cup for the first time in 13 years.
