Leeds have shot up to sixth in the Championship standings after a superb run of form that has seen the Whites pick up 22 points from their last 10 games.

But even that tally has been bettered by both second-placed Brighton and Championship leaders Newcastle who have won their last seven league games, picking up 25 points from a possible 30.

The club’s form in October saw Magpies boss Rafa Benitez beat Whites head coach Garry Monk to the latest Championship manager of the month award and Newcastle are as short as 1-3 favourites to win the division.

The Magpies are odds-on to win at Elland Road on Sunday with Leeds as big as 7-2 to win a game for which all tickets sold out earlier this month as Elland Road prepares for its first capacity crowd for almost six years.

But buoyed in particular by a 3-2 win at much-fancied Norwich City before the international break, Vieira sees no reason why the Elland Road faithful cannot be sent home with another home win.

Vieira told the YEP: “It’s a tough game but Norwich was a tough game as well and we came out with a result. We’ll see how we go but I think we have

got a good enough team to beat Newcastle and go on and do well this season. We have got nothing to fear in this league so we are just going to go out there and do what we practice during our sessions – with everyone helping the team, doing their best and we’ll see how we get on.”

Vieira was responsible for scoring the winning goal in United’s most recent Championship fixture at Norwich before the international break.

The 18-year-old stunned the Canaries with a low, injury-time rocket from 25 yards that put the youngster’s name up in lights but Vieira insists it has been business as usual for him since.

“Nothing has changed really,” said the midfielder.

“I’m just there to do my best and hopefully help the team like I did on Saturday.

“I have just got to keep doing my best and helping the team. Everyone is focused.

“I know we had a good result at Norwich but it’s gone now and we have just got to focus on the Newcastle game that’s next.

“Everything has been going well, everyone is training well and staying focused.

“We all know what we have got to do next week and throughout the rest of the season.”
