Leeds Sunday League: Loveridge stars for seven-up Crusaders

Kirkstall are still playing catch up in the Leeds Sunday League Championship in which they have played only five games all season but have a 100 per cent record.

On the cup front, Crusaders made it five wins out of six in Group A on Sunday as Loveridge’s four-timer was supported by a brace from Ash Thompson plus a solitary strike from Adam Morris.

The Woodcock have now lost four games out of four in Group A with Bramley Villagers having lost three out of three after a 3-1 loss at home to West Leeds Armley.

Danny Robinson notched for Bramley but goals from Jason Quinn, Dion Robinson and Shane Collins made it four wins out of five for Armley, with the Group’s top two proving different class.

It’s a tighter affair in Group B where East Leeds Celtic moved second with a 6-1 triumph at former leaders Halfway House Bramley who dropped to third. Joe Phillips slammed in a hat-trick for Celtic, with his treble accompanied by a brace from Stephen Johnson plus a James Banner strike.

Kurtis Heyes was on target for Halfway who are one point behind Celtic after five games played.

West Leeds Wortley now lead the group after romping to a 9-0 win at home to pointless Western Juniors.

Jordan Webb, Mark Ferguson and Liam Copland all netted twice for the hosts, with the tally completed by efforts from Josh Summers and Geordie Rosendale plus an own goal.

In league action, recent recruits West Leeds Farnley’s search for a maiden win continues after a 7-1 hammering at runway leaders Chapeltown Fforde Grene in the Terry Pears Premier. Top marksman Kieron Goodison bagged four for Fforde with his haul backed up by a double from Kane Blair and a John Allinson strike.

Aaron Batley hit the consolation for Farnley, who joined the league late in the season and have now lost six out of six.

Fforde lead the division by 11 points and have lost just one game all season.

Richmond Hill’s recent good run of form was ended with a 3-1 loss at home to second-bottom Harehills WMC who bagged their second three-point haul of the season.

Two first-half goals from Nils Linstrum, both direct from corners, gave the clubmen a fine start to the game.

Richmond narrowed the gap with an early second-half goal from Chris Hitchings, but a Bradley Proctor strike five minutes from time ended any hope of any points for Richmond.
