Leeds Combination League: Horsforth are still hunting for first win
Horsforth Fairweather's search for their first Jubilee Premier win of the season has been extended by another week as they succumbed to a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of fifth-place Seacroft WMC.
A brace from Macca McBurney, along with strikes from Luke Coates and Scott Townend ensured the win for the away side, despite replies from Scott Robinson and Dave Howarth for Horsforth.
Elsewhere, a Tom Westerman strike was not enough to prevent JB Celtic suffering defeat away at third-place Hope Inn Whites.
In the Premier, fourth-place East Leeds Celtic cruised to a 10-2 victory away at FC Broadway, with Killian Mabey and Carlton Binks scoring the consolation goals for the home side.
Elsewhere, a brace by Witcher and Scott, along with strikes from Dixon and Leafe helped Swillington Welfare oblige 6-3 at home to bottom club Chapeltown Fforde Grene Reserves. Dan Sherrif (2) and Joel Hughes found the net for Chapeltown.
In Division One, third-place Chapel Allerton edged a home encounter 3-2 against promotion rivals New Pudsey. Strikes from Will Abbott, Jason Watt and Ronnie Hay were enough to see the home side take the points, despite replies from Tom Stewart and Rick Simpson for New Pudsey. Pendas Arms’ unbeaten season continues as they triumphed 6-1 away at Moortown Albion. A Kallum Long brace, along with efforts from Dave Turner, Emilio Bozzo, Adam Tempest and an own goal ensured a routine victory despite a Stuart Talbot consolation for Moortown.
Oulton Athletic gave their survival chances a boost as they triumphed 4-2 at home to sixth place Halton.
In Division Two, third-place Sporting Pudsey gained a comprehensive 10-0 victory over bottom side AFC Elford.
Omar Caines, Jamie McGougan, Matty Durrans and Josh Pearce all grabbed braces for the home side, along with solitary strikes from Danny Cook and Jason Prior. Second-place West Leeds Armley edged a 5-4 victory over eighth-place Acorn.
Strikes from Josh Simpson (2), Graham Major and Jake Kelly proved to be in vain for Acorn as Armley hit back through Mark Ferguson (2), Daniel Heyhirst, Ryan McQuade and Jordan Tate to seal the win.
In Division 3A, braces from Aaron Dix and Matthew Simon, along with strikes from James Cowlam, Martin Shaw and Danny Hewitt helped East End Park WMC climb to fourth with a shock 7-1 victory over league leaders Old Hall Town.
Sixth-place New Moorside gained a 6-3 win at home to West Leeds Farnley, thanks to strikes from Jordan Lee and Ash Anderson, as well as braces from Jamie Halsall and Marcus Liburd. Wortley Knights suffered a fourth defeat of the season with a 3-0 defeat at home to Halfway House Bramley, with Brad Longhorn and James Penman (2) finding the net for the away side.
In Division 3B, a Liam Walker strike for Millshaw Park Rangers Reserves was not enough to prevent a 4-1 defeat at home to Northern Star.
Stuart Brown, Kieron Dieghan (2) and Danny Roberts secured the points. Bramley Villagers obliged 3-2 away at fourth-place Western Juniors, third-place FC Armley thrashed West Leeds Bramley 5-0 away from home, and Black Lion gained a 4-0 victory at home to third-bottom Temple.
