Leeds Combination League: Hope Inn's record stalls at Rovers

Hope Inn Whites' 100 per cent record in the Jubilee Premier stuttered to a stop as they were held 1-1 by Leeds City Rovers away from home.

Daniel Daly grabbed his third goal of the season for Hope Inn Whites as they worked hard to maintain their unmatched feat.

As though it was a choice for what to do at the weekend, Holliday beat hard work and earned a point for Leeds City Rovers, who are now within four points of the league leaders despite being fifth in the table.

Both teams feature in cup competitions next weekend but Whitkirk Wanderers Sunday will be afforded the chance to move to the top of the division if they are able to beat Main Line Social.

There were no games in the Premier Division last weekend, but bottom-of-the-league Chapel Allerton host East Leeds Celtic next weekend, when they will look to secure their first win of the season.

Elsewhere, Swillington Welfare take on AFC Leodis as both teams fight to escape the abyss of mid-table.

In Division 1, South Seacroft remain the only unbeaten team, thanks to a 6-0 hammering of Bramley Town.

The result means that South Seacroft have 26 points from their opening ten fixtures (eight wins, two draws) and have a seven-point lead over second-placed East End Park.

East End Park, however, kept pace with South Seacroft by halting Oulton Athletic’s impressive form of late in beating them, 3-1.

Ashley Hubbard, Nathaniel Welsh and Glenn Hendrix were all on the scoresheet for East End Park, while Liam Atkinson provided the foundations of a comeback for Oulton Athletic, but it proved to be nothing but a consolation.

The biggest scoreline of the weekend saw Sporting Pudsey embarrass The Woodcock by winning 10-0. This superb performance was not matched by superb filing of the goalscorers but congratulations to those who contributed to the thrashing.

Moortown Albion moved to within a point of top spot in Division 2 with a convincing 4-1 victory over West Yorkshire Falcons.

Geoff Clarkson bagged a brace and Scott Stainthorpe and Pete Hill also found the net for Moortown Albion.

Northern Star beat FC West Leeds 4-2 in Division 3A’s only meeting of the weekend, leaving just goal difference between the latter and the foot of the table.

Kieron Dieghan’s double, coupled with goals from Bobby Roberts and Stuart Brown, ended West Leeds’ chance.

The division’s top two teams – AFC Travellers and Bardsey – did, however, face off in the Mawson Cup.

Second-placed Bardsey ran out 4-2 winners and earned their spot in the fourth round of the tournament, despite Daniel Hurley scoring two goals for AFC Travellers.

Goals from Roman Neal, Joel Deacey, Robbie Decker and Matthew Wells proved to be enough for Bardsey to knock their title rivals out of the cup. The 4-2 scorelines continued prove popular even in Division 3B.

Kirkstall Crusaders Academy are the only team in the whole of the Leeds Combination Association Football League to still have a 100 per cent record.

They beat Bramley Amateurs 4-2.

Ryan Wilson (2), Francis Gibson and Isaac Hall were all amongst the goals for the winning side, Athletico Bramley, meanwhile, as they increased the pressure on league leaders Sporting Pudsey II by replicating the same scoreline.

Their victims were unfortunate host club, Amaranth Athletic.
