Leeds Combination League: Fairweather blown off survival path by Rovers

The battle at the foot of the Jubilee Premier table went the way of Leeds City Rovers, who plunged Horsforth Fairweather further into the relegation mire by winning 3-2 at Adel Lane.

Rob Holliday, Joe Clarke and Zaheer Ahmed were the architects of Fairweather’s downfall. Gary Litvinov responded with a goal for Horsforth.

Table toppers Hope Inn Whites were made to work hard for their 3-2 win over HT Sports at Lawns Lane. A brace from Danny Maw and substitute Josh McLean’s effort proved just enough against HT who almost snatched a point through Barry Frankland and Sam Hewitt.

Belle Isle WMC leapfrogged Pudsey Libs into second with a 4-1 win. Dale Pickering had two rare goals, with Reece Fennel and Daniel Chadwick also netting. Greg Sergeant got a consolation for Pudsey, who have now lost their last three.

Queenswood Crusaders conceded ground to Main Line Social in the Premier Division title race, managing a 3-3 draw with AFC Bramley at Armley Park.

James Hochstrasser notched a brace and Daniel Sadoval scored for Queenswood, who were pegged back by Josh Proctor and Jake Dally (2).

South Leeds Ind Sunday brought an abrupt halt to New Parnaby’s revival, surging to a 5-1 victory at Pepper Road. Danny Harrison scored two and George Walker, Joe Childerson and Rhys Evans also scored.

Whitkirk Wanderers Sunday stayed in third with a 2-1 win over Colton, earned by hot shot Kingsley Wetherald and Oliver Mallinson.

JB Celtic cruised to a 2-0 win over fellow mid-table side Badri, with strikes from Jimmy Childs and Matty Dalton.

There was a slew of shocks on Sunday in Division One as leaders Swillington Welfare sank to a second successive loss, at Kippax Band Club. Richard Jackson’s brace propelled Kippax to the win and Aaron Gray also notched, while Dylan Mattison and Thomas Micklethwaite scored in the losing cause.

Second-placed New Pudsey also slipped to defeat, in a late 3-2 reverse against FC Broadway. Aaron Myers, Leon Daniel and Marc Gunjal had Broadway’s goals and New Pudsey scored in the 75th minute through Brodhi Wilkinson and in the 80th through Ashley Forber. Leodis United put Chapel Allerton away 4-0, with Lee McKenzie netting two and Paul Hewson and Dom Walton also in the goals. Oulton Athletic and Amaranth Sundays couldn’t be separated, drawing 1-1 as Tom Lee and Ryan Henry’s goals cancelled each other out.

Garforth Sports & Social got the better of KKS Zubry 4-2 with goals from Phil Clark, James Hazelgrave, Lee Turner and Ben Wood.

Division Two side Bramley Town booked their place in the Luty Cup final with a dramatic extra-time triumph against Barwick Stallions.

Daniel Thorp put Barwick in front but Scott Barlow, Mitch Dixon and Marc Wilson got the goals to set the stage for the final against Beechwood Sundays.

In the league,Royal Park Leeds pushed past AFC Travellers 3-1 with goals from Brendan Mullen, Matthew Lambert and Jamie Halsall.

Beechwood continue to profit from their games in hand, beating Corpus Christi 4-2. Nat Welsh’s brace, added to efforts from Sean Burton and Stephen Cooper, proved more than enough against Phil Jarvis’ double.

Millshaw Park Rangers defeated Waterintobeer 5-2, with Scott Carter hitting a treble alongside Rob Smith and Martyn Howe’s goals, while East Leeds AFC thrashed FC West Leeds (Guiseley) 8-0.

Moortown Albion kept hold of top spot in Division Three thanks to a hat-trick from Craig Fish in their 4-1 defeat of FC West Leeds (Guiseley) Reserves.

A brace from Pete Atkin put Halfway past Elford 4-0, while Acorn (Bramley) had Charlie Upton and Mickie Fletcher to thank for their goals in a 2-1 victory over Republica Internationale.

Wortley Knights thrashed Millshaw Park Rangers Reserves 5-1. Andy Bellhouse scored two, James Murray, Jamie Rowson and James Bell were also on target with Jordan Smith netting a consolation.

Yorkshire Black Rose and Northern Star shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with goals from Joe Smith and Josh Charlesworth on either side.
