Leeds Combination League: Davis pots treble to deny Fforde top billing

Jason Davis hit a hat-trick for the visitors and Lee Turner added insult to injury as HT Sports moved into third in the league, just two points adrift of league leaders Hope Inn Whites.

While nothing could be done to save the scoreline, Roy Fogerty continued his rich vein of goalscoring form with a consolation goal for Chapeltown.

Elsewhere in the division, Kirkstall Crusaders and Kippax Sundays shared the points, thanks to goals from Ash Hubbard and Richard Jackson respectively.

Chapel Allerton impressively earned a point away to first-placed New Pudsey in Premier.

Prior to the match, Chapel Allerton had accumulated just one point from their opening five fixtures but Mark Freeman and Patrick Pillar both found the back of the net for them.

New Pudsey responded with goals from Joe Thorp and Dec Forber but their slip-up offered AFC Leodis the chance to close the gap. Hosting Swillington Welfare, AFC Leodis made no mistake in moving to within two points of the summit.

Jordan Walker (2), Oliver Mallinson (2) and Martin Dixon were all on the scoresheet in their 5-0 triumph.

A nine-goal thriller between New Middleton and Horsforth Fairweather featured so many braces that you would have thought it took place in an orthodontist.

Danny Harrison and Liam Connelly scored twice for New Middleton in a 5-4 win, while Rob Wilson (Horsforth Fairweather) was also in on the action with two goals, following up on his hat-trick against Chapel Allerton last weekend.

New Middleton are now fourth despite their three-point deduction earlier in the season, while Horsforth remain fifth on goals difference.

South Seacroft’s lead at the top of the table is dwindling in Division 1 as they dropped points for the second consecutive matchday – this time being held at home, 1-1, by New Armley Blues.

McCauley Eliott was the hero for the away side, who remain in eighth but are now just four points from second-place East Leeds.

The gap between South Seacroft and the chasing pack could be reduced to two points if East Leeds win their game in hand.

Oulton Athletic earned their first point of the season in shock circumstances when they visited title contenders Halfway House Bramley and left with a 3-3 draw. Adam Carson’s hat-trick for Halfway House Bramley was cancelled out by goals from Phillip Negelein, Steve Richardson and an own goal.

Halfway House Bramley had the chance to move into second place but remain third after the draw.

East End Park followed up on their draw with South Seacroft the previous weekend with a comprehensive 4-0 victory away at Commercial HQ last Sunday.

Glenn Hendrix’s opening goal was a stepping stone for Kieron Evans, Damien Curtis and Ricky Watson to write their names on the scoresheet for the victorious side.

The result leaves Commercial HQ with a goals difference of minus 18 – the worst in the division.

Horsforth Saints recorded their first win of the campaign when Charlie Kavanagh’s first-half effort was added to by a Dany Azzaro strike 20 minutes from time, making Andrius Keys’ goal for Harehills WMC nothing but a consolation.

The final match in the league saw Bramley Town ease past The Woodcock by a 3-0 scoreline, courtesy of goals from Scott Kirk, Brian Edwards and Kris Robson.

Moortown Albion put six past fellow title contenders Crown & Anchor with no response, maintaining their two-point gap at the summit of Division Two, writes JACK BRAIN.

Geoff Clarkson scored a brace, while Kristian Johnson, Matt Hoddell, Josh McMahon and Pete Hill were also scorers.

Hunslet Club Sundays ensured they kept pace with Moortown, though, beating Acorn, 3-1. Matty Bowes scored two and Dayle Kellet added to the scoreline, with Peter Gittins grabbing a consolation goal for Acorn. Jordan Stocks’ four goals helped East Leeds Reserves propel themselves into fifth with a 5-3 win over Wortley Knights and lowly Western Juniors continued their run of poor form with a 4-0 loss against West Yorkshire Falcons. Jose Flores found the net twice and Charles Connor and Bradley Johnson were both on the scoresheet.

Old Hall earned themselves a valuable 6-4 win against fellow strugglers FC Corpus Christi, thanks to stand-out performances from Rob Fenton and Andy Serotsky, who both scored twice.

Marcus Liburd’s hat-trick set New Moorside well on their way to an 8-0 away win against Churwell Blues in Division 3A. Dan Adjibona hit a double too and Andy Thomas, Steve Bailey and Dan Gale were also amongst the goals, leaving New Moorside with a massive plus 27 goal difference.

AFC Travellers, meanwhile, remained top courtesy of goals from Michael Doyle and Gordon Booth as they beat Bardsey, 2-0. Haydn Bowler single-handedly saved FC Armley from an embarrassment against bottom-of-the-league Pudsey Athletic with a brace in a 2-1 victory.

Republica Internationale moved into ninth from eleventh with a 3-0 win against Old Crooked Crock in which Mohamed Hamaway bagged a double.

Elsewhere in the league, Headingley Rovers beat Northern Star 6-0 and FC West Leeds were on the wrong end of a 3-0 against Original Oak.

Top-of-the-league Athletico Bramley suffered a shock 2-0 defeat against Bramley Amateurs in Division 3B as Craig Lacy and Danny Hook netted one each.

Temple took advantage of Athletico Bramley’s slip-up by beating Armley Reserves, 3-0, closing the gap to just one point.

Bramley Lions also stayed in contention with a 3-1 win over FC Crossgates, with goals from Danny Robinson, Matty Christopher and Chris Fletcher.

Jason Prior scored a hat-trick for Sporting Pudsey II but it was not enough to prevent them from suffering a humiliating 7-3 loss at home to West Leeds Reserves.
