A late loss to Huddersfield Town at the weekend saw the two clubs swap league positions and subsequent improper conduct charge for manager Garry Monk following his clash with counterpart David Wagner has made it a week to forget.

However, the team remain comfortably in the play-off positions, seven points clear of Norwich City in seventh place under the tutelage of former Swansea City boss Monk.

And despite uncertainty off the pitch, with chairman Massimo Cellino being given a 12-month ban to begin February 18 and landing the club with a £200,000 fine due to break FA agent rules, Rush still thinks the club are a good bet.

“Look at what Garry Monk has done,” Rush said, speaking at an event to promote the chance to win £3 Million for just £1 on The Football Pools.

“He has done a fantastic job and he has surprised me, you would be lying if you said they hadn’t surprised you.

“I thought the best they could make was the play-offs but now they are going really well and I’m certain they are going to make the play-offs now.

“They might find it difficult to go up automatically but the supporters will take that and they have been very well supported. If they do make it then I’ll be rooting for them.”
