Farsley started brightly, first Carl Johnston saw a shot from close range blocked by Guiseley keeper Brad Wade, then in the next attack Paddy Lane was excellently denied by Wade, who saved well again.

The hosts took the lead with 10 minutes gone. A ball over the top found Kaine Felix who used his pace to get into the area and found the bottom right-hand corner with a good finish.

A quick break from the visitors helped see them level. Luke Parkin was brought down in the area and Will Hayhurst made no mistake scoring from the spot.

Hayhurst was on the scoresheet again soon after, a cross found him on the edge of the area and he hit a fine powerful strike, into the top corner.

Chances were few and far between during the opening stages of the second half, with a moment of quality needed to draw the scores level.

A cross was partially cleared by the visitors and Nathan Newall was able to fire a shot past a number of Farsley defenders from 20 yards out into the net.

In added time Farsley so nearly won it – Jake Charles hit the post from close range, before Wade heroically denied the rebounded effort as well, to ensure both sides left with a point.

Speaking after the game Lions joint-manager Russ O’Neill said: “It was a tough game, we knew it would be. The second-half performance was pleasing to see, we just have to get ready for the quick turnaround with the games we’ve got to play.”

Meanwhile, Celtic boss Adam Lakeland added: “We take the positives from the game, we’ve got a point from the match, created chances and on another day, we win this match.”

The two sides face each other again on New Year’s Day at The Citadel, but beforehand Guiseley travel to York City tomorrow, while Farsley host Boston United.
