Gossip Column: Leeds United agree fee for Brentford midfielder

Leeds United have apparently agreed a fee with Brentford for the signature of Toumani Diagouraga, according to Ian Abrahams of Talksport.

The defensive midfielder looked as though he was on his way to join Rangers in the second tier of Scottish football, but the Whites have offered him an alternative route out of Griffin Park.

It remains to be seen which club he will choose.

Diagouraga, 28, from France, started his career at Watford and also spent time on loan at Rotherham United in 2007.

Rhoys Wiggins has asked to be allowed to leave Sheffield Wednesday during the January transfer window after finding opportunities in the first-team hard to come by. Daniel Pudil has been first choice at left-back for the majority of the season. Wiggins has started just eight times since his move from Charlton Athletic.

Carlos Carvalhal said: “I believe he [Wiggins] will not stay. I think he will move and I wish him all the best because he’s a good guy and professional. He’s a good player.

“Rhoys came to me and told me he wanted to move. I have spoken face to face with him in the last couple of days. It’s only him who has requested to go and I understand because he’s 28-years-old and didn’t play much last season.”

Neil Redfearn has admitted a vague interest in Sam Morsy, with Rotherham United eyeing up a move for the Chesterfield midfielder. They will have to move swiftly to nab him, with a series of other Championship sides keen on.

Redfearn said: “He is a talented player, he is someone that I rate but we are looking at a lot of players. But there’s no definite interest.”

Hull City are going to try and loan out Greg Luer this month. The likes of Stevenage, Barnsley, Peterborough and Oxford have all made approaches for the 21-year-old in the recent past.

Alan Sheehan is set to depart Bradford City on loan again. He spent a significant part of the first half of the season on loan at Notts County.

Sheehan wrote on Twitter: “All signed and ready to go. Will wait for club to announce it tomorrow. Looking forward to new start.”
