Goalkeeper

Hugo Lloris, Tottenham Hotspur

In recent seasons Tottenham haven’t been a source of reliable defenders for FPL managers.

But the Jose Mourinho era finally got some traction at the tail-end of last season and opposition strikers repeatedly blanked against the London side.

With Jan Vertonghen away and Serge Aurier set to depart the makeup of Spurs’ backline will be tweaked somewhat, but Hugo Lloris is all but guaranteed to start between the sticks despite the arrival of former golden glove winner Joe Hart.

Defender

Tariq Lamptey, Brighton

Signed from Chelsea in January Tariq Lamptey had a short time to make an impression at the AMEX Stadium, but impress he did.

The teenager launched attacks from deep for his side without jeopardising his side’s defence.

At just £4.5m the Englishman would make an excellent fourth or fifth choice defender.

Ruben Vinagre, Wolves

Long touted by Wolves fans as a future star the full-back is yet to secure a run in the team, but that could be set to change.

With Jonny Otto set to miss out on the start of the season 21-year-old Vinagre should be afforded an extended period in the starting lineup.

His attacking threat and place in a stingy Wolves defence should make him a popular pick with FPL managers, especially with a pricetag of just £4.5m.

Matt Doherty, Wolves

With Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold both priced over £7m, FPL managers may look elsehwere for a first choice defender.

Wolves man Matt Doherty has proven in the last season that he is a reliable source of points in attack and defence, scoring a combined eight and assisting 15 times in the last two seasons.

The Irishman costs £6m this year a price that will inflate should he maintain his fine form.

Midfielder

Kevin De Bruyne, Man City

Kevin De Bruyne scored more points than any other FPL player last season – a feat that you’d think would see him listed as the most expensive player this season.

That’s not the case, however, with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all cost £0.5m more than the £11.5m rated midfielder.

Sign him up for regular goals and assists from midfield.

Matheus Pereira, West Brom

Quite possibly the best player in the Championship last season, Matheus Pereira was often a class above opposition with his intricate play in the final third.

He racked up 16 assists last season – three more than any other player – and eight goals of his own.

Pereira will face far more difficult defences this season, but at £6m he represents excellent value in midfield and could potentially see his price spike if he

Christian Pulisic, Chelsea

Despite his hugely impressive end to the season Christian Pulisic is valued at just £8.5m this season.

The Chelsea man was involved in eight goals in the nine fixtures following the restart, outlining himself as a quality attacking threat.

FPL managers will likely be tempted to play the attacker alongside one of Kevin De Bruyne, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Son Heung-Min, Spurs

Son Heung-Min is available for a cutprice £9m which should tempt FPL managers.

The South Korean has been guilty of blowing hot and cold, often returning blanks for weeks on end, but when things click for the attacker purple patches typically follow.

Son has cleared the 150 mark for the past four seasons and should land a similar return now that he’s approaching his peak.

Striker

Aleksandr Mitrovic, Fulham

Fulham were missing their towering Serbian during the playoffs, but still managed to squeeze past Brentford at Wembley earlier this month.

The physical forward has proven himself in the Premier League before, scoring 11 and assisting three in the 2018/19 season. What’s more the striker is just 25-years-old meaning there’s plenty of room for him to improve.

Sign him up as a third choice striker for just £6m.

Anthony Martial, Man United

Man United’s attacking trio of Martial, Rashford and Greenwood were lethal post-restart.

Weirdly, Anthony Martial still has his fair share of detractors, despite rattling in 17 goals and setting up seven goals last season.

The Frenchman is listed at £9m, excellent value if he emulates his 200 point tally from last season.

Raul Jimenez, Wolves

A goal machine who consistently rewards FPL managers, Raul Jimenez has racked up 30 league goals and 17 assists in his first two seasons in the Midlands.

Speculation has linked him away from the Molineux, but if he stays put there are few safer bets on the market than the Mexican frontman.

Listed at £8.5m, Jimenez still represents excellent value despite a price hike.
