Cup honours are even for Leeds City and Seacroft

On Wednesday night at Elland Road, Joe Clarke, Alhassane Keita and Mark Donnelly scored for City, only for Seacroft to pull level in the third minute of injury time through a goal from Liam Robinson which, added to second-half strikes from Ryan Robinson and Oliver Maude, took the game to extra-time.

Seacroft then won the penalty shootout 4-2 to lift the Senior Cup at the famous home of Leeds United.

In the Sanford Cup final Keita struck again, twice, to exact sweet revenge for Rovers, who won convincingly 4-1 at Farsley Celtic’s Throstle Nest.

They also netted through Nick Clarke and Rob Holliday on Sunday. Four league positions separate the two sides in the Jubilee Premier but that didn’t show across two fine games of football.

Familiarity breeds contempt and the final game in the entire Jubilee Premier campaign on Sunday pits – you’ve guessed it – Seacroft against Leeds City Rovers.

The one scheduled game in the top flight saw a home walkover in favour of Hope Inn Whites over Pudsey Liberal Club.

Two outstanding victories, earned without conceding a goal, for JB Celtic has left them in sight of the Premier Division title with a win in their final game of the season this weekend against South Leeds Ind. Sunday enough to win the league.

Phil Coates’ goal saw them to a 1-0 win against AFC Bramley on Thursday and they followed that up with a 3-0 defeat of Queenswood Crusaders thanks to a brace from Matty Dalton and a James goal.

The other game on the final day of the season sees Whitkirk Wanderers Sunday play Badri, a meeting of two teams who will be pleased with their third and fifth-placed finishes respectively.

All matters in Division One are settled as Swillington Welfare beat Oulton Athletic 5-0 to seal promotion.

A treble from Thomas Micklethwaite, whose 17 goals have played a big part in their success, and goals from Liam Woolley and Jamie Nixon took them to the win at Wakefield Road.

Division One Champions Kippax Band Club rubbed salt in the wounds of third-placed Amaranth who narrowly missed out on promotion. Mark Owen’s hat-trick and Paul Wilson’s double provided the thrust for the win and Richard Jackson and Aaron Gray also got their names on the scoresheet.
