Crusaders catch-up to complete the double

Playing catch up on their games in hand, Kirkstall first obliged 5-3 at West Leeds Armley on Wednesday evening. Anthony Williamson was at the double for Kirkstall, who also struck through Liam Marshall, Ash Thompson and Andrew McMillan. Shane Collins, Brandon Stuart and Danny Hayhurst bagged one each for fourth-placed West Leeds.

Kirkstall then raced to a 6-0 success at home to third-placed East Leeds Celtic on Sunday as Liam Marshall, Andrew McMillan and Danny Hart all notched braces. Victory left Crusaders needing three points from their last two games and Crusaders were then awarded a home walkover from Monday’s tie at home to second-bottom The Woodcock.

West Leeds Wortley temporarily stayed top on Sunday with a 5-2 success at home to bottom club Western Juniors. Wortley’s Mark Ferguson bagged a four-timer, supported by a Liam Copland strike against Western replies from Mik Brown and Karl Ferguson.

In the Terry Pears Premier, Richmond Hill bagged four points from two games against East End Park WMC. They started with a home 4-1 mid-week win, which saw Ray Spencer netting a hat-trick to go with one from Kieran Evans. The Sunday game ended all-square at 2-2 with Paul Sykes and Ben Olbison on target for the clubmen. Ashley Hubbard and a Nathan Swires penalty supplied the Richmond reply, Hubbard netting his 100th goal for the club over the last three seasons.

Richmond sit second but can still be overhauled by one of third-placed Harehills WMC and fourth-placed East End Park WMC who meet this weekend. Harehills WMC were 6-1 home winners over bottom club West Leeds Farnley thanks to Daniel Marcinkowski’s hat-trick plus goals from Jonny Archer, Krystian Jaworski, and Nathan Abbott.
