Paul Heckingbottom has previously managed Fletcher during a loan spell at former club Barnsley and asked about his availability before the 22-year-old made the permanent move to Boro from West Ham last summer.

The striker has spent the second half of the season on loan at Championship strugglers Sunderland after failing to make much of an impact at the Riverside scoring just once since moving north. He has also notched one goal in 14 appearances since joining the Black Cats in January.
