Ben Duckett’s 86 not out steered the Outlaws to a six-wicket victory with just four balls remaining in their Vitality Blast North Group clash.

Duckett scored his runs from 53 balls and hit 10 fours and two sixes to seal the win, the left-hander sharing stands of 85 with Chris Nash, who scored 51, and 51 from 27 balls with Tom Moores, who was undefeated on 21 when the target was reached.

Earlier, Yorkshire were dismissed for 190 from the final ball of their innings, after choosing to bat first. Joe Root mled the way for the second successive game, scoring 65, while opener Adam Lyth made 53. Harry Brook chipped in with a welcome 39 from 26 balls but a late clatter of wickets disrupted the visitors’ momentum.

Yorkshire lost their last seven wickets for 22 runs in 16 deliveries, with Luke Fletcher took career-best bowling figures of 5-43 for the hosts.

“I thought we were excellent up until the last two overs of our innings,” said Gale. “Rooty (Joe Root) was a little unlucky, another two inches and that would have gone for six and we’d have reached 200.

“Lythy (Adam Lyth) was outstanding, as he always is for us, and got us off to a flyer and Rooty was the glue that held the innings together.

“But we didn’t quite reach 200 and I felt all along that we needed that. We didn’t quite finish our innings with any momentum to be able to take into our bowling.

“But we still had them 16-2. We needed to keep the pressure on then but credit to them, they played well.

“Notts are a good team and this is a tough place to come, we’re disappointed not to get over the line but we can hold our heads up high with our performance today.”
