Cosgrove a star in the making for Dewsbury Rams

Teenager Elliott Cosgrove has been pinpointed as the star of Dewsbury Rams' pre-season campaign.

Coach Warren Jowitt has high hopes for the former Castleford Tigers and Huddersfield Giants academy player after he impressed in Rams' trial games following a spell in Australia.

"He has been the biggest find for us," said Jowitt, pictured left.

"He came on board four or five weeks into pre-season after he had come back from Australia.

"I didn't know much about him, but he played in our reserves against Wakefield and had a massive game.

"He doubled up and played against their first team and did well and on

Sunday he started in the back-row against Bradford and was quality – he looked really good.

"We have certainly got a good one here."

Jowitt added: "Elliott is a back-rower or centre and has said that as long as he gets a chance, he doesn't mind playing in the second team.

"I've given him a chance and he has taken it, he has got a really good attitude."

Full-back James Craven has been another stand-out, according to Jowitt.

"He showed how good he is on Sunday," said the coach. "He opened

Bradford up on several occasions.

"He has got good footwork and speed and he has proved he is a good player, but across the board our first 17 are quality."
