Cooper and Behbood in the frame for Yorkshire title in Leeds

The Leeds centre – the main sponsor of the Yorkshire Billiards and Snooker Association – is once again hosting the final, tonight at 7.30.

Three-time former Yorkshire champion Wayne Cooper – from Bradford – will take on Harrogate’s Gyles Behbood, a former county junior champion in a best-of-seven frame final.

Entry is free for fans and the annual trophy presentation for all Yorkshire competitions will be made after the final.

Leeds teenager Oliver Lines suffered a disappointing exit at the Australian Goldfields Open qualifiers last night.

The 19-year-old lost 5-2 to the experienced Jamie Burnett in Crawley.

Lines had reached the penultimate round of qualifiers after beating Steve Hallworth 5-3.

Oliver’s father Peter Lines also crashed out, losing to Zhou Yuelong 5-3.

The Australian Open is the first major ranking event of the season, and is held in Bendigo, three hours drive from Melbourne.

Joel Walker came out on top 5-3 in the all-Sheffield clash against Adam Duffy. The 20-year-old needs to beat Gary Wilson this morning to book his place on a trip to Australia.

Two Yorkshire players not heading Down Under are Leeds potter David Grace – who lost 5-4 to Mitchell Mann – and Doncaster’s Ian Glover, who was edged out 5-3 by Kyren Wilson.
