Leeds boxing champion Josh Warrington looked in fantastic form as he treated several hundred spectators to an open training session on Bank Holiday Monday.

Warrington will defend his Commonwealth and WBC International featherweight title against Australian Joel Brunker at the First Direct Arena on Saturday evening, a fight that is being televised live on Sky.

The unbeaten 24-year-old, an ardent Leeds United fan, enjoyed an open warm-up session at Trinity Leeds on Monday, where ‘the warrior’ looked in grand shape ahead of this weekend’s showdown.

His opponent, Aussie raider Brunker, was in the ring around an hour before Warrington’s arrival but even then the crowds were starting to swell.

An impressed Brunker said: “It’s great to see so many people here for just a warm up. In Australia no-one would turn up. In Australia they wouldn’t care, they wouldn’t even set the ring up for us.”
