LEEDS super bantamweight standout Jack Bateson will make his debut into the pro boxing ranks tonight with the former Sky Scholar facing Zsolt Sarkozi of Hungary.
Having narrowly missed making the 2016 Olympics in Rio as part of Team GB, Bateson is well prepared to step into the pros.
The Leeds fighter is reviewing offers from major boxing promotional outlets and has brought a US-based advisory team Sheer Sports Management on board to help him navigate life as a professional.
It will also be a family affair as Bateson gloves up for the first time as a pro with his father and local promoter Mark Bateson promoting the Friday night card.
Uncle and trainer Martin Bateson will be in his corner giving instructions.
The fight card starts at around 7.30pm at the Pavilion Centre at at Elland Road.
Bateson expects a sold out show and promises to put on a great performance for his fans.
“I’ve got it all, I’m tall and rangy I can mix it up if I need to, I’m a switch hitter I can adapt to who ever is in front of me,” says a confident Bateson. “I promise to put on a great show for everyone, ticket sales have been incredible, now all that’s left to do is fight.”
