LEEDS’ double Olympic champion Nicola Adams is in line for her first-ever professional world title fight in October – in only her fifth bout as a pro’.
Since turning professional, Adams has breezed to victories in all four of her fights and promoter Frank Warren has revealed the Leeds star could now get a crack at a world title on the BT Sports ‘The Time is Now’ card at Leicester Arena on Saturday, October 6.
Warren revealed: “Nicola Adams’ fight will be for either an Interim or a world title.”
Adams had been seeking a world title fight at the earliest available opportunity with the Leeds star looking to unify the division and win all four belts on offer before retiring.
Adams said: “I’ve been asking Frank for a while now to get me a world-title fight and I’ll show on October 6th that it’s my time.”
Adams will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Leeds’ Josh Warrington who became IBF featherweight champion of the world in May when defeating Lee Selby at Elland Road.
