Batley given a real scare at Keighley

Asif Ayub (49no) held his nerve to see Batley home at 180-9, with Keighley having earlier managed 177, with Muhammad Tahir taking a miserly 4-12.

Previous frontrunners Yeadon (115) were undone by spin-king Tanzeel Altaf, whose 6-20 helped Saltaire (119-4) triumph by six wickets.

Hassan Hussain (64), Max Chappel (4-33) and Will Stiff (3-17) enabled Hunslet Nelson (190-9) to comprehensively defeat Idle, dismissed for just 87.

The search for a first win of the season goes on for Birstall (100), who lost by 83 runs to Undercliffe (183), for whom quickie Zeeshan Qasim took a fine 6-16.

Liversedge were skittled for 91 en route to an eight-wicket loss to Baildon (94-2), for whom Blake Green took 5-41.

A classy 110 not out from overseas man Darryl Hendricks helped Wrenthorpe (296-4) defeat Methley (295-5) by six wickets in a Championship B run-fest.

Hendricks shared in a stunning first-wicket partnership worth 149 with Wrens captain Andrew Bourke (77), while Luke Patel weighed in with an unbeaten 70 in their successful run chase.

Earlier, Grant Soames had hit a similarly marvellous unbeaten 143 for Methley – putting on 163 for the fourth wicket with Ashton Blakey (64).

Matthew Bremner (80) and Jack Hughes (59) were in the runs as leaders Townville (204-4) beat Bowling Old Lane (200) by six wickets, with Kulpreet Chhabra taking 4-47.

A seasonal-best divisional score of 171 not out from South African Loren Steenkamp helped Hopton Mills (324-4) crush winless Hartshead Moor (189).

Steenkamp was joined in a fourth-wicket stand of 144 by Andrew Grey (81). Craig Field’s 90 was in vain for Moor.

A fifth-wicket stand of 132 between Arman Hussain (85) and Will Smith (69no) helped Carlton (234-5) to chase down an Altofts total of 231-7.

Callum Nuttall (57no) and Arkam Asif (45) top scored for Altofts while Farrukh Alam (4-40) was the pick of the Carlton bowlers.

Spen Victoria (141) lost out by four wickets to second-placed Bankfoot (145-6), despite Alex Leadbitter’s 4-61, while Brighouse (181-9) – still without a win – lost to Gomersal (217-7), whose best were Adam Greenwood (63) and James Russell (4-21).
