A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a sex worker in Leeds.

Lewis Pierre is accused of killing 21-year-old Daria Pionko.

Miss Pionko was discovered with fatal injuries in Springwell Road, Holbeck, early on December 23.

She was taken to Leeds General Infirmary but confirmed dead a short time later.

Pierre, 24, briefly appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday), where a judge heard he also faces charges of rape and robbery.

Wearing jeans and a hooded top, Pierre spoke only to confirm his name.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday.
