Nicola Marchant, health coach at the medical practice, said the scheme would save the NHS money by making people healthier and less reliant on prescription drugs.

She said: “If you can get people exercising, it can cut their medication down and save on operations which will save a lot of NHS money.

Dr Helen Lawal, said: “Seventy per cent of health problems can be linked to lifestyle, but it can be so difficult for people to make changes without the proper support and knowledge.

“With all the contradicting advice, fad diets and lifestyle trends in the media, it’s very easy for people to be confused about how they’re supposed to keep healthy. We’re trying to keep it as simple as possible.

“Prescribing these classes could make a big difference to someone’s health and mental well-being – we all know exercise can boost your mood, and Nicola makes it all fun.

“It’s also a great way to socialise – so it’s an all round win-win for both patients and the health care system.”

Users can be referred to the circuit classes by a doctor or can self-refer.
