As previously reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, lone women were targeted in both of the robberies.

In the first incident, a 22-year-old woman had her handbag snatched after being attacked and pulled to the ground while she was crossing the footbridge between The Calls and Dock Street at around 4am.

Then, at about 4.40am, an 18-year-old woman was walking along Call Lane towards Briggate when she was pushed into a ginnel by one of three men who demanded her handbag.

She gave him the bag but, while the man was momentarily distracted, managed to grab it back and run from the ginnel into Call Lane.
