Dance hall days

READING about the Majestic in the YEP evoked many fantastic memories.

The Majestic ballroom was a wonderful dance hall situated in the basement. At the entrance was manager Barry Lycett in his dinner jacket and the resident big band was Johnny Wollaston's.

When the band took a break, the revolving stage moved and a trio played (no disco in those days).

Wonderful memories of other dance halls – the Mecca Locarno, the Scala, the Astoria and the Tower at Meanwood.

I always look forward to receiving my weekly (Monday's) YEP.
