Bankers must help young jobless

Have your say

MANY will remember how the Tory Thatcher government destroyed our local manufacturing industries and turned us into a mono-economy, over reliant on the banking and service sector.

That strategy failed tragically this past five years with a global economic crisis, the worst excesses of which were averted by the leadership of Gordon Brown.

Our local MP, Ed Balls, is now continuing that work in Parliament by forcing the bankers to hand over some of their cash to help the young unemployed in Leeds, where one in five of the unemployed are aged less than 25. This can only succeed if other MPs, such as local Lib Dem Greg Mulholland, do what’s best for their constituents rather than their career and party.
