Yorkshire site managers awarded in national housebuilding competition

Site managers working for local housebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, have scooped three prestigious awards in a national competition to find the best-run building sites in Britain.

James Swann, working at David Wilson Homes’ St John’s Walk development in Hoylandswaine, gained official recognition for the second time for the excellence with which he runs the site, by receiving a Pride in the Job Quality Award. The awards are dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standard in housebuilding.

Alongside James, two other Site Managers were celebrated in the division; Steve Usher, working at Hewenden Ridge in Cullingworth, and Gary Coughlan, based at Serenity in Doncaster.

The three winners were joined by other Barratt Developments site managers from across the UK, who have scooped 74 awards this year for quality workmanship. Barratt Developments site managers have won more Pride in the Job awards than any other housebuilder for the thirteenth year running.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West Managing Director, Ian Ruthven, said he was delighted that local site mangers have again been judged as among the best in the housebuilding industry: “At Barratt, we thrive on working to the highest standards and so I’m thrilled that three of our site managers have been recognised with these awards because it is so very well deserved.

“The role of a site manager is vital in ensuring the delivery of high-quality homes and we are delighted that James has been recognised with this award for the second time! It demonstrates our on going commitment to quality, and can only further the confidence our customers have in our ability as a five star housebuilder”

The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the housebuilding industry and have been instrumental in driving up standards for 37 years. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body, the NHBC, carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best-organised and best-quality housing developments.

Thousands of site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety.

This award comes on the back of Barratt Developments being awarded five stars by the Home Builders Federation (HBF) for customer satisfaction. Barratt is the only major national housebuilder to be ranked as five star by the HBF for the last eight years.
