When four Yorkshire women became the first to row across the North Sea it wasn’t so much sea-legs and shanties that kept them going, but singing Abba hits.
So when Mamma Mia! opened at Leeds Grand Theatre, Helen Butters, Frances Davies, Niki Doeg and Janette Benaddi, better known as The Yorkshire Rows, simply had to see it.
Afterwards Helen said: “Sitting in the theatre brought back so many wonderful memories of our time on the ocean.”
They faced hurricanes, 40ft waves, sleep deprivation and power failures but became world record holders.
