The old Yorkshire Bank on High Street, in Yeadon, is to change use after Leeds City Council planners gave the go-ahead for a barber shop.

Two flats, alterations, roof lights and three car parking spaces are also planned in the refurbishment.

A statement on behalf of the developer, represented by Norr Consultants, reads: “The proposal will bring back into use an empty building and provide a new shop to the high street as well as making use of the top two floors and changing their use to dwellings.”

The site is one of a number of Yorkshire Banks in Leeds which have been subject to planning applications. The central Leeds, Chapel Allerton and Headingley branches were shut after 18 sites across the region were earmarked for closure in 2017.

Planners have stipulated that work on the Yeadon site must start within three years.
