Two hometown bands were today among dozens of new names confirmed for this summer’s Leeds Festival.

Eagulls and Pulled Apart By Horses will both be playing the August Bank Holiday weekend rock extravaganza.

In a statement, Pulled Apart By Horses said they were excited to be appearing, adding: “We’re geared up with new album material to play and can’t think of a better place to road test it than at Leeds and [sister festival] Reading.”

Other new acts announced today included Nas, Frank Turner, Good Charlotte and Tonight Alive.

Foals, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Biffy Clyro and Fall Out Boy are among the high-profile acts previously confirmed for the festival, which will take place as usual at Bramham Park, near Wetherby.

Leeds Industrial Museum in Armley will be brimming with excitement on August 1 when, for the first time ever, the historic site plays host to none other than the Yorkshire Open Hat Throwing Championships, the brainchild of Yorkshire-based poet Glyn Watkins. picture Tony Johnson.
