YEP Says: Care homes are a real worry for all

MOST OF us will, sooner or later, find ourselves in a private sector care home and some already have loved-ones residing in such establishments.

So it is most worrying that the standard of such homes is not good enough, according to a leading councillor.

It is said that half of homes in the region require improvement or are inadequate and the private sector is “not sufficiently robust” to handle all vulnerable residents.

The Department of Health says it’s essential that older and vulnerable people get high-quality care. We agree. It is vital that we have confidence in such facilities.
