Burberry is a global brand representing luxury and quality and we are proud that Yorkshire is home to its manufacturing.

Burberry is a global brand representing luxury and quality and we are proud that Yorkshire is home to its manufacturing.

The announcement last night to staff of the investment demonstrates Burberry’s ongoing commitment to the area, its appreciation of the skill and dedication of its current workforce and recognition that Leeds is a developing city with a great future.

In what is sure only to be the first phase of its manufacturing investment, it is likely that the Grade 1 listed Temple Works building will also be restored in future phases, unlocking further potential for Burberry’s expansion.

The South Bank has already seen significant investment with the Tetley site and the recent sale of the Round Foundry building. It is seen as the biggest and most ambitious urban regeneration area in Europe.

And instead of merely seeing plans and drawings of prospective investment ideas, we are seeing a real conversion of the site.

As we look forward to what is coming to Leeds, with the south entrance development of the railway station, and the arrival of HS2 into this part of Leeds, you can see why it is becoming an attractive hub for major investment. We welcome Burberry’s decision and look forward to seeing it thrive in the city.
