IF ever a Leeds United player deserved to be called a legend, it was Peter Lorimer.

His medals and other souvenirs from his career during United’s golden years will be of huge interest to fans who yearn for a return to those glory days.

Lots at the sale will include his 1969 First Division and 1972 FA Cup winner’s medals as well as a plaque awarded after United’s 1974 title triumph.

It will of course attract football enthusiasts from far and wide but it would be much more appropriate if the haul ended up in the hands of a proper United fan and stayed here in Leeds where they belong.
