YEP Says (Jan 30): Leeds really is a capital of sport

FIRST, the Tour de France Grand Depart; now the inaugural Columbia Threadneedle World Triathlon.

If Leeds wasn’t a sporting city before, it most certainly is now.

And if we thought it was impossible to top the Grand Depart, organisers claim the triathlon event might actually be bigger and more exciting.

That’s a bold claim and one we hope is true.

Sports fans in Leeds have never had it so good.

We just hope such good sporting news continues and that Leeds really can lay claim to be the British capital of sport.
