YEP Says: It's time for these young riders to face the courts

They were putting themselves and others at risk and delaying law-abiding road users. They also hampered the emergency services who had more important matters to deal with than immature fools who shouldn’t be allowed on the roads.
Kirkstall Road - one of the busiest roads in our city - was closed. The chaotic scenes prompted 244 calls to police about dangerous riding and other anti-social behaviour in five hours.

Hide AdIf you or I drive at a couple of miles over speed limit tonight on the way home we can expect - rightly - to be fined and have points put on our licence. These 50 or so idiots deserve the same or worse.
No arrests were made during the incident which is a shame and one youth has been arrested since. Let’s hope police who can be quick to pounce on drivers are equally quick to investigate and show these teenagers - at least, we assume they are teenagers - that they should keep off the road until they can ride responsibly.
Police condemned the “appalling behaviour” of the group and their “complete disregard for public safety”. Let’s hope we see these riders in court.
