Few can fail to be moved by the tears of Liza-Rose Luper or by the terrible circumstances she endured 12 years ago that led her to speak out so passionately yesterday.

Liza-Rose’s father, John, died during a robbery at his home in 2004.

The 57-year-old was taken to the master bedroom of his house in Sandmoor Drive, Alwoodley, by masked robbers, while his wife, daughter Liza-Rose, and au pair were bound with tape in another room.

Mr Luper was later found dead from asphyxiation and, 12 years to the day, so far no one has been brought to justice.

Now, in an act of great resolve and bravery, Liza-Rose has broken her silence to appeal to anyone who might have information about those who caused her father’s death, to come forward.

Her words to Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Sam Casey are compelling and shocking: ‘I remember waking up to being tied up by masked men and when I was finally free finding my father dead on the floor.

“It has been 12 years but there are people out there with information about who killed my dad.

“Everybody has a father and a father is a daughter’s first love so I literally feel like my heart has been torn out, broken and crushed.”

We hope this appeal brings the justice she and her family so richly deserve.
