YEP Says: Congratulations to admirable pub
the flood in Leeds was a serious affair. Livelihoods were damaged and householders suffered enormous disruption, but some good came out of it.
The way Leeds laughed in the face of adversity was admirable. Perhaps one of the images which best depicted this attitude was the way regulars at the Kirkstall Bridge Inn drank in the beer garden with waters rising around them.
So it is welcome news indeed that this pub – an inn at the heart of the community – has been named Camra’s pub of the year. With pubs struggling to survive, it is heartening that this establishment is honoured.
